My name is Sandy, and I am 68 years old. In the fall of 2009, I took a hard forward fall tripping over a garden fence. Although stunned for a few moments, I seemed to be fine until I woke up the following morning. That morning, I had terrible pressure and a roaring tinnitus in my left ear and my hearing in that ear was noticeably diminished. After several visits to ENT doctors, I was diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease without vertigo. This was a devasting diagnosis for me as I am a musician and have worked for over 20 years as a private music teacher. I was told there is no cure. I would have to learn to live with it and slowly lose my hearing.
I always believed there had to be a connection between the fall I suffered and the inner ear symptoms which began less than 24 hours afterward, but all the doctors said it was just a coincidence. I have suffered on and off with these symptoms for the last 14 years and during those years, the symptoms began to affect my right ear as well. Fast forward to 2023. While in the throes of a rather severe period of ear pressure and tinnitus, I was desperate for help. I did a random Google search and discovered a short article about how upper cervical chiropractic care can help people who suffer from Meniere’s Disease. It cited a very impressive study that showed good results. The article had a link to a directory of Upper Cervical Chiropractors across the country. I thought there was very little chance that there would be a provider near me in rural Pennsylvania. When I searched my area, up popped Boonsboro Upper Cervical Chiropractic in Maryland, a 35-minute drive from my home. I called the next day, spoke to Dr. Blanford, and set up my initial consultation.
I have been a patient of Dr. Blanford for 6 months now. My extensive intake x-rays showed the injury to my neck that occurred in that fall 14 years ago which precipitated all of the problems with my ears. At this point in time, I am in Phase 4 of my upper cervical treatment. After one month of adjustments, my symptoms subsided to a tolerable level and have been stable now for 5 months. I still have a little tinnitus, but the horrible noise and fullness in my ears is gone! I am only halfway through my one-year plan, so my body is still very much in the healing process. I am very excited about the results!
I highly recommend Boonsboro Upper Cervical Chiropractic, especially to those suffering from inner ear disorders. Dr. Blanford is a friendly and down-to-earth provider who is very thorough in his approach. It is easy to see that he truly cares for his patients. He and his wife, Corinne, provide a very welcoming environment at their practice. I am so very thankful for the help I have received and for this practice which obviously cares very much about me and my healing,
